Telford Nursing Home Awarded National Gold Standard

Morris Care Centre in Wellington passed the Gold Standards Framework Care Homes Accreditation Quality Hallmark after a rigorous independent review of all aspects of its care.

It is one of only a select few in Shropshire to hold the coveted hallmark.

Home Manager Lydia Tyanase, said: “We have always aimed for excellence to provide the highest possible standards in nursing and compassionate care. Achieving this award is fantastic news and important recognition for what we do.

“It is a credit to all the hardworking team here who are committed to looking after our residents at Morris Care Centre and delivering the best ‘gold standard’ care.

“We had GSF champions throughout the home among care staff, auxiliary staff, the Social Life Co-ordinators, Housekeeper and Head Cook.”

A 144-strong team is based at the home, which has 45 bedrooms and offers short and long term care for the elderly and mentally frail. It also provides care for those living with all forms of dementia.

The GSFCH Quality Hallmark Award was formally presented to the Care Centre at a special awards ceremony in London. To be accredited, homes must achieve 20 quality standards, ranging from leadership and support to dignity and respect as well as submit a portfolio of evidence.

The accreditation process considers better quality of care, proactive and advanced care planning, working with GPs and staff morale. Its inspectors look for gold standard thinking that runs through the whole home.
