Life in our homes: Social Wellbeing
They say variety is the spice of life and keeping your body and mind active is even more important in later life.
Across all of our Homes in Shropshire and Cheshire we have dedicated Social Life Coordinators who ensure the quality care residents receive from the nursing team is complemented by a focus on social wellbeing.
Whether that is sharing stories with new friends, taking part in an activity, watching a film in one of our cinema rooms or joining a group day out, we want our residents to have a fulfilling daily life and maintain their sense of independence.
Our full and engaging social calendar means our residents are connecting with the people around them, ensuring they feel purposeful and socially engaged.
Over the last couple of years we have even set sail on a virtual cruise within in our Homes, which was great fun for our many residents who couldn’t have a holiday. The themes of our ‘Cruise Days’ have included a gastronomic ‘Escape to the Med’ with a host of European foods from France, Spain, and Italy and a 'Grand Explorer' which set sail across the seven seas bringing dishes from Europe, Norway, China and the USA – all carefully planned by our Chefs. The cruise days also encourage our residents to partake in new activities, which have included mask making and Chinese fan decorating. The Gala Dinner, hosted by the selected Captain in each Home, is always followed by a variety of ‘mocktails’ and live entertainment.
