The death of a loved one can be devastating, even if you have had time to prepare for it. At Morris Care we understand how hard this time can be, which is why we continue to support you after the death of your relative.
Once a person has died you may feel a number of emotions such as sadness, shock, anger, distress or even relief if your loved one has been suffering with an illness for some time. But it’s important to take reassurance that this is normal and it will take time to process the reality.
Our trained staff will be on hand to support and guide you through the process of what will happen next whilst giving you as much time as you need with your loved one, whether that be to spend time talking to them, sitting quietly with them or even just holding their hand.
We will be there to help you each step of the way from verifying the death, through to supporting you with funeral arrangements and registering the death of your loved one. You are not alone. We will provide you with information booklets containing useful contacts such as bereavement services and funeral directors which you are free to read in your own time.
We also invite families, friends and staff members to a remembrance toast at the home after the death where we all share experiences and stories about your loved one. We believe that this is an important part of the grieving process in which we can reflect upon and reminisce about the life of the person who is no longer with us.
Remembering a person is just as important as caring for them in the final stages of their life and alongside our memorial services, we also have a tree of life in each of our homes which contains the names of all residents who have passed away. This is a lovely way for us to remember the people we cared for but also for you to know that they are not forgotten once they have gone.
