Isle Court Nursing Home celebrated summer in style this week with a BBQ with a difference, on the lawn with friends and family.
The event featured live music from local duo Misty Duo as well as a dog show and a raffle.
Staff from Telford-based Hilbrae Rescue Kennels brought along rescue dogs, soft toy dogs for the residents to enjoy along with information packs as they helped to host the dog show.
Visitors saw dogs compete in a number of categories in order to be crowned champion of the first ‘Isle Court dog show’. Members of the local community, friends and family were encourage to enter categories including ‘waggiest tail’, ‘best looking dog’, ‘most like their owner’ and ‘best in show’.
The event was the first to be held on the nursing home’s new outdoor patio area, which sits at the foot of the entrance surrounded by planted flower beds and coincided with the opening of the new 55-space carpark.
Staff hung up bunting, laid out drinks, sweets and treats as well ice cream to cool down guests in the heat.
Roberto Tumaliuan, Home Manager at Isle Court said: “It was a pleasure to host this year’s summer BBQ on the front lawn with all of our residents and their loved ones. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves and getting involved in the activities particularly the dog show where we brought out a podium, trophies, dog treats and mocked up certificates for the winners in each category”.
We take great pride in resident’s wellbeing at our six care homes within Shropshire and Cheshire. By creating a bright and positive atmosphere through engaging activities such as this, we believe this constitutes a cheerful, happy environment for both residents and staff alike.
