As we look forward to spring, March brings some exciting social activities and clubs for our residents to enjoy.
In March, the world celebrates two Patron Saints, St Patrick and St David. All of our homes will be getting into the spirit with some Welsh and Irish themed days and events. To celebrate St David’s Day, residents enjoyed some traditional Bara Brith cake (a Welsh dried fruit cake), they also put their aprons on and got the mixing bowls out to make some Welsh Cakes. To celebrate St Patrick’s Day, Stretton Hall residents will be taking part in a ‘What’s your Leprechaun Name?’ game.
Mothering Sunday is on the 11th March and Oldbury Grange is going to bake some delicious cakes to commemorate the occasion.
Garden strolls are always popular at our homes and now that spring is on the horizon, Isle Court has decided to start a Gardening Club to give residents the opportunity to express their ‘green fingers’ and make the most of the nicer weather.
The first day of spring is on 20th March and it falls on the same day as ‘International Day of Happiness’. How fitting? Clocks also go forward in March which means lighter evenings. To make sure you never forget when the clocks change again, take note of the old saying “fall backwards, spring forward”.
Easter falls on the 1st April this year and many of our homes are going to kick off the celebrations on Good Friday. Residents, along with their families, will be getting together at Corbrook Park for an Easter Buffet and entertainment. In the run up to Easter, Radbrook is going to get creative and craft some handmade Easter cards. Amongst all of this fun, there will be several Easter Egg Hunts across all of our homes and lots of egg decorating, the chocolate kind as well as the hard-boiled.
Happy March everyone, enjoy it while it lasts.
