Residents at our Corbrook Park nursing home enjoyed a tea party with a difference as staff served up an Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon.
Carers became the Mad Hatter, Alice, Dormouse, White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts for a ‘Madhatters’ end of summer tea party whilst the kitchen provided the buffet high tea.
Everyone enjoyed a range of cakes, pastries, clotted cream and strawberries on the lawn and joined in with human snakes and ladders and a gigantic game of skittles.
In true Alice in Wonderland style, Corbrook was decorated with huge playing cards, quotes from the Lewis Carrol story, bunting, balloons and tea alongside ‘eat me’ and ‘drink me’ signs.
Residents were also treated to a two-tiered themed cake topped with a cup and saucer.
The event was organised by Social Life Coordinator Tracey Williams, who said: “We wanted to ring the changes from the usual summer BBQ and hold a tea party for all of our lovely residents. We hold regular tea parties but we thought we would theme this one and what better theme than a tea party made famous by Lewis Carrol. Such activities are important in providing a safe and stimulating environment for those in our care; making every day the best it can be.”
Morris Care takes great pride in ensuring resident’s wellbeing is top of the agenda at its six care homes within Shropshire and Cheshire. By creating a bright and positive atmosphere through engaging activities such as this, we believe this constitutes a cheerful, happy environment for both residents and staff alike.
