A children’s choir delighted and entertained residents at Isle Court nursing home last week with songs from the past.
The pupils from Bicton CE Primary School stirred the memories and had the audience singing and clapping along.
The children were invited as part of World Alzheimer’s Month (September) and chose and learned favourites including ‘Do-re-mi’ from The Sound of Music, ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’ and ‘Jerusalem’.
“The children sang beautifully and with enthusiasm; it really struck a chord with our residents. Music helps to unlock memories and engage people, which is why we organise and value such activities.
“We’re looking forward to the school’s return at Christmas and hope the performances become a regular highlight here.”
Head teacher Natalie Johnson said: “We were delighted the choir was invited to sing at Isle Court. It brought tears to my eyes watching the residents’ responses and made me feel very proud of our children.”
