A former student nurse has risen through the ranks and in just six years been promoted to Deputy Nurse Manager at leading Bridgnorth care home, Oldbury Grange.
Roberto Tumaliuan has joined the management team at Morris Care’s Oldbury Grange home where his new role includes overseeing training for colleagues in addition to his clinical duties.
The 54-bed home provides short and long term care for the elderly and mentally frail and employs up to 84 people. Roberto was promoted after his outstanding work at Isle Court, the Morris Care home at Bicton, Shrewsbury in Shropshire.
Originally from the Philippines, Roberto joined the leading care provider in 2010 as a student nurse at Isle Court and said: “I’ve been warmly welcomed by the team at Oldbury Grange who are very supportive and I am really enjoying my new role with its responsibilities and challenges. I oversee all the training to make sure everyone is up to date with changes in legislation governing care. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards and recruiting people with the right qualities.”
Roberto credits Morris Care with giving him the opportunity to work in the UK and equipping him with the training and knowledge that enabled him to become the nurse professional he is today.
Morris Care is a family business and in keeping with its family values all staff over 18 receive the new National Living Wage, not just those who are 25, plus a premium on the national rate.
Roberto added: “The company believes it is only fair that people doing the same job should be paid the same regardless of their age. It is good news for those looking for a position with a company putting the welfare of both its staff and residents at the heart of everything it does.
Oldbury Grange is currently recruiting for a number of roles as it looks to expand its care offer to residents. For more information visit www.morriscare.co.uk or call 07146 768586.
Morris Care has six care homes, employs 426 nurses and carers and is proud of its training record having recently invested in its own dedicated training facilities in Shrewsbury.
