Care Centre Chef Braves the Shave for Cancer Charity

Tracy Silvester, Head Chef braved the shave on Saturday 25th September at a Macmillan Coffee Morning held at the home and has already raised more than £500 for the charity.

Tracy has worked at our nursing home in Wellington for 17 months. The motivation for losing her locks was to honour her friends and family members who had been affected by cancer. Her aim was to make a difference through raising as much money as she could for such a worthy cause.

Our residents and staff are said to be completely in awe of Tracy’s gesture and bravery. There was quite a crowd at the event on Saturday, made up of residents, families and staff who gathered to enjoy an afternoon of coffee, cake and entertainment. Many said the highlight was watching the first cut by General Manager, Carol Jones and then the shave by Care Assistant, Rofel Dean.

Carol Jones, General Manager said “It was wonderful to be part of such an inspiring event. We are all very proud of Tracy, and want to congratulate her on her commitment to raising money for such a vital cause.”

The fundraiser has now surpassed £500; and the team at Morris Care Centre aren’t looking to stop there. If you’d like to donate, visit the Just Giving online page at https://bit.ly/3ohkib4
