Residents and their families at Isle Court nursing home enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea in the sunshine, sitting in the garden with glasses of Pimms and dainty cakes served on decorative stands, serenaded by pianist, James Taylor, Head of Jazz Piano at Shrewsbury School.
On the exquisitely manicured lawns at the Morris Care nursing home on Isle Lane in Bicton, the families of residents were thrilled to be reunited with their loved ones for the occasion – the first family inclusive event staged since all the Covid restrictions began over a year ago.
Claire Harris, General Manager at Isle Court explained how important and moving the occasion had been:
“It really was a very special afternoon for our residents but also for our staff. I know from all the feedback, that being able to sit outside safely in small family units, enjoying company, music and sunshine together felt so positive. We have all missed the lovely sense of occasion our events evoke and after the success of our garden tea party, we are planning more family get togethers like this.”
Many of those who joined in the tea party had come to live at Isle Court during the past year and they and their families had not, therefore, attended any of the wonderful events staged at the Home before.
Claire added: “It was so heart-warming to look around and see the smiles. The Pimms and sweet treats were being thoroughly enjoyed and my thanks go out to our pianist James for his flawless performance, playing favourite classics and bringing back happy memories for all.”
Isle Court, rated Good by CQC, is one of six nursing homes run by Morris Care and is welcoming new residents with safely arranged family visiting.
Pianist James Taylor has been tutoring at Shrewsbury School for over a decade teaching many students, some of whom have now become professional musicians.
