End of Life Care
We believe it is right to encourage people to talk more openly about end of life and palliative care whilst thinking about the issues and choices available.
An unavoidable part of life is that we will all have a final chapter, but we don’t tend to talk about it.
Our stiff British upper lip has made talking about death a taboo subject and in our culture we place a lot of emphasis on having the best start in life, with state of the art maternity and first rate antenatal care. At Morris Care we ask ourselves why the end of someone’s life should be any different. Surely it’s even more important to have the best possible care and treatment because really and truly, dying matters.
We believe that caring for someone in the final days of their life is a great privilege.
Our End of Life approach to care emanates from our own wealth of experience and takes cues from other countries around the globe, helping residents live well towards the end of their lives and simultaneously providing that all-important support for families and friends at this difficult time.
Morris Care: Our Privilege
We have created a special video to let you know we are here for you along with a series of blogs to help you find out more about End of Life care and your freedom to choose what is right for you and your loved one.
About End of Life Care
End of Life care, also known as Palliative Care, is defined as healthcare for people who are in the final hours, days or months of their lives. Within each of our homes in Shropshire and Cheshire, we offer tailored and specialist end of life care, which works to standards set out in the National Gold Standards Framework (GSF).
We are committed to respecting dignity, controlling symptoms, talking to and keeping family members informed along with working holistically with other healthcare professionals to provide well-rounded, high-quality care across all of our homes.
Our End of Life services support family members at this difficult time and through our links with local groups, we are able to provide practical advice and further support for palliative care if needed.

What is end of life care?
An inevitable part of life is that we will all have a final chapter, but we don’t really like to talk about it until we have reached that chapter.
Gold Standards Framework at Morris Care
In our second part of exploring end of life care we look at the nationally recognised Gold Standard Framework (GSF), which focuses on giving people the best care, at the right time and in the right place.
Preparing for end of life care
There’s a saying that we only have one life to lead so we need to get it right. The same is true for death. Talking about death may feel uncomfortable and a cultural taboo, but as providers of end of life care we know we have only one chance to get it right
Choosing where to end life
When it comes to exercising personal choice, some decisions are minor in the grand scheme of things while other ones are truly momentous. Choosing where to receive end of life care or helping a loved one to make that decision comes in that hugely important category.
Explaining end of life to young people
Perhaps one of the hardest things many of us will have to do is talk to children about the death of a loved one, it is our instinct to protect children from distress but it is also important that they understand what is happening.
