Emma Fenton Reception Administrator - Care Centre

“I joined Morris Care back in 1994, when the Care Centre first opened. I started out as a Care Assistant when I was 20 years old and after being in that role for around three years, I decided to change my role to a Steward which gave me a different challenge and more experience but still meant I could work alongside residents.

However, neither role gave me as much responsibility as I would like, and rather than going down the clinical route, I decided to go down the admin route. I became a Reception Administrator in 1998 and have stayed in that job role ever since. Morris Care has been brilliant in helping me progress in this role, I have completed my NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration and I am now looking towards my level 4. What I love most about my job is that I can still interact with residents and their families but I now have a more operational role. I am the first point of contact for enquiries and I am responsible for the organisation of staff training and other relevant paperwork. I really enjoy being at the centre of the home and its day-to-day activity.

What’s great is that I have been here since the Care Centre first opened, I have worked alongside lots of different staff but the structure and ethos of the home still stays the same. There is a ‘Morris way’ that sets us apart from everyone else and any new members of staff adapt to this attitude which is lovely to see.

It’s a busy environment to work in but I get a great deal of job satisfaction from this role and I know that every day I am making a positive difference to someone’s day, whether they’re a resident or a colleague.

Morris Care is a really encouraging and supportive company to work for, unlike other care providers that can often feel corporate, Morris is very family orientated and this is reflected in its attitude towards staff. The flexibility within my job role allows me to make sure I can be there for family emergencies and for last minute childcare needs, which is really important to me.

I would highly recommend Morris Care to anyone who is looking for a rewarding but challenging job role. If you are a caring, understanding and patient person, then I don’t doubt you will fit right in with the Morris Care family.”
